Clients may be charged with indirect taxes (Eg. Sales tax or GST) depending on location, and any applicable law. This is in addition to the price shown on the site and is always made known before payment. The price on the final checkout page includes all fees and taxes to be paid. They are clearly shown so that you can approve the amount charged. Any taxes charged by 99designs by Vista are forwarded to the relevant tax authorities. 99designs by Vista is unable to accommodate user's exemptions from state sales/use taxes on purchases; however, these can be claimed back from the local authorities (when applicable).
Sales Tax in Australia: GST
If you are a 99d Client based in Australia and have been charged Sales Tax it's because our systems have detected you are in Australia and we have applied GST to the purchase. GST (Goods and Services tax) is a 10% added value tax which is charged to customers in Australia.
This means it is mandatory by law for 99designs by Vista to charge GST based on a customer's location when they are buying services within Australia.

Sales Tax in the US
Due to new US tax laws, if you're a 99d Client located in the US, you may need to pay state Sales Tax for purchases made on 99designs by Vista.
The United States (US) does not have a national sales-tax system. Rather, indirect taxes are imposed on a sub-national level. Each state has the authority to impose its own sales and use tax, subject to US constitutional restrictions. In many states, local jurisdictions (e.g. cities and counties) also impose sales and use taxes.
