When you’re submitting designs to a contest, upload a JPEG or PNG file that’s smaller than 2048 x 8192 pixels, and less than 8MB in size. This should be large enough to give the client an indication of the detail in your design.
While the size and format of entries are the same across all contests, the color mode and design program you use for the actual design depends on the type of contest you’re participating in.

Designs for logo design contests
When designing for logo contests you must use a vector program like Illustrator, CorelDRAW or Inkscape. Note that if you’re using a vector program, you won’t need to worry about the resolution.
-
Designs for other print design contests
We suggest you use vector programs when designing for any print-related contests. You must also use a CMYK color mode for print design contests. If you decide to use a raster program, like Photoshop, for a non-logo, print contest then you must use a resolution of at least a 300dpi.

Designs for web-based design contests
If you are entering a web-based design contest, you can use a raster program like Photoshop or GIMP. You must use a RGB color mode at a resolution of 72dpi.
Now that you know which files you need to start with, if you win, uploading final deliverables to the handover should be a breeze!
