How do I report a problematic design entry?

Maintaining a safe and fair environment is a top priority at 99designs by Vista. Our reporting system is intended to protect the community from unfair or infringing behavior, not to critique design quality. Before reporting a design, please ensure it actually violates the policies outlined in our Designer Code of Conduct regarding originality, third-party material, and competing fairly. Designers who repeatedly misuse our report system risk getting penalized.

How to report an entry

Once you have confirmed the design violates our site policies, you should:

1. Find any other entries the designer submitted that violate the rules in the same way (e.g. all of the logo designs they submitted in a Contest that use the same stock vector image).
2. Make sure you have the evidence ready, e.g. specific links to the original work and your observations as to why you feel the design is stolen or copied.

Using the "Report" button

1. Click the design that you want to report. This will bring you to an enlarged version of the design.

2. Click 'Report design' to be taken to the dispute form, which will allow you to log the report/dispute for the violation.

3. Select the type of violation for which you are reporting the entry and add the referenced entry or URL to provide proof of the infraction.

Using our contact form

If the design you would like to report is dated older than a month, you will not see the link to report it. Instead, please contact our support team via Email. To send a report via email head to our contact page.

Please keep in mind:

  • Write “Reporting a design" in the subject line.
  • In the body of your message, share all the information needed to analyze the case. Provide a link to the design you would like to report, and include all the reference material and evidence (e.g. another design, in case of reporting a copy, or a link to the third-party material URL if applicable). Make sure all information, including relevant dates, is correct and accessible.

Please do not report the same entries multiple times. This slows down our processes and can introduce confusion. If you consistently send invalid or repeat reports your account is subject to suspension.

Typically, reports are handled within 2 business days and you'll get a notification letting you know the decision. During the review process, please do not contact the client directly about the design you have reported. This only adds unnecessary delay and frustration to the process and could even lead to clients wanting to cancel their contest. Please see the help articles below for more information.
